THE KIDS ON THE
BLOCK
|

|
"Kids on the Block" is a unique educational program using
life-size puppets to address the issue of child abuse. An objective,
informative script addresses the issues of sexual and physical abuse in a
sensitive, child-centered and non-threatening way. This provides children
with the information they need in order to seek help if they are
experiencing abuse.

The puppets are able to respond
with clarity and candour to the questions and concerns of the children.
Each performance is followed by a visit a short while after, by the puppet
and volunteer puppeteer, to address any questions or concerns that may have
arisen with the children following the initial performance.
The program is offered in all Huron County elementary schools and is
targeted to the grades 3 and 4 levels. During the 2002/2003 school year, we
performed for 876 students. This program is presented by volunteer

Learning Video Series
This program includes three video lessons
on aggression, compassion and perseverance and is being taught in
both the Separate and Public schools.

Our Kids on the Block program is underway we and are looking forward to coming to your school. We
are always looking for new Kids on the Block performers so if
you have any puppeting experience, or are interested in
learning, we'll train you and get you going out to the schools.
