Kim Hagle, Parent Support & Education Worker
Mom of 4 who is still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up.
I have always valued strong family relationships, community and physical activity. I love my job because it combines all three of these! Among other things, I coordinate physical activity programming for families around the county. It is such a joy to help families be active together. I graduated from Western University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I also hold a personal training certification and several group fitness certifications. In 2015, I checked “running a marathon” off my bucket list (never again!)
My career history has really evolved over the years, from labour and delivery nurse to public health nursing, to stay at home mom, to self employed personal trainer/nutritionist, to wellness coordinator at the Goderich YMCA. I feel like these jobs were the perfect preparation for my role here at Rural Response for Healthy Children.
What is your favorite book to read? To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I first read this in high school because I had to, but have read it at least 3 times since. It’s a great reminder that we don’t need to fully understand or agree with someone’s choices, we just need to be kind.
Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house? There’s four jobs here…. That’s one for each kid, right?? Just kidding… I guess that means neither…. But if I had to choose, I’d mow the lawn because it’s outside, and would still look like I did it 5 minutes after I finished, unlike the other jobs.
What’s your favorite holiday? Christmas. Hands down. I’ve always loved the magical feeling, the surprises, the family gatherings, the food, the music, the decorations. I’m not quite Clark Griswold… but close.
