Parenting is the most difficult and yet the most rewarding job in today’s society. Parenting Programs can provide today’s parents with the information and tools they need to carry out their important and challenging role. The skills parents learn are invaluable to the lives of their children and family as a whole.

Rural Response for Healthy Children offers a variety of parenting programs geared to meet the needs of parents with children aged six and under. We are available to organize any of these programs for interested groups, schools or individuals.

We are also available to provide information regarding other parenting resources through speaking engagements or on an individual basis.

Family Ties
is a mobile program to help families enhance life skills, self- help skills, and offers parent support and education. While parents attend workshops such as basic cooking skills, basic sewing skills, budgeting, healthy lifestyles, time management and making gifts, etc., their children are participating in a children’s program. This exposure for your children is an excellent opportunity to develop school readiness skills and enhance early literacy.

Being a parent can be a tough job and sometimes we need a little help from our friends to feel that we are on the right track. Many families move away from their extended families and don’t have the support of parents, grandparents or others. We can help families build support systems within their communities so they can swap babysitting or just have a coffee with a friend. It is also important for parents to remember their importance and that they need to look after themselves.

The Family Ties program is offered on a bi-weekly basis in a variety of locations throughout Huron County, in partnership with the Huron County Health Unit.
