Board Member Opportunity

We are currently hiring Board Members with an interest in supporting children and families in Huron and Perth County. Board Member commitment is a two-year term, with the possibility of renewal to a maximum of three terms. This is a volunteer opportunity. 

 

Job Summary:

 

The Board Member participates in the strategic and financial oversight, policy development, goal setting, and evaluation activities of Rural Response for Healthy Children. The Board Member acts in good faith and honesty to further the best interests of RRHC, representing the organization in the community. The Board Member applies their knowledge and expertise to the benefit of the organization, to the fullest amount that is reasonable. This position reports to the Executive Committee of the Rural Response for Healthy Children Board of Directors.

Roles & Responsibilities:

​

  • Support the values and mission of Rural Response for Healthy Children

  • Attend Board of Director meetings virtually

  • Attend 1-2 meetings per year in-person in the Huron County area

  • Make a personal commitment to the organization in the form of time, effort, and financial support to the best of their ability

  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing all relevant materials and contributing insight and feedback for discussions

  • Contribute to governance by voicing opinions at board meetings while respecting the views of other board members, and respecting the role of the Chair or Co-Chairs

  • Participate in board training, orientation, and organizational learning opportunities

  • Promote and participate in Rural Response for Healthy Children activities and events where it is appropriate to do so

  • Represent community interests in the decision making process of the Board of Directors

  • Identify potential conflicts of interest and avoid participating in, influencing, or voting on such matters 

  • Demonstrate team work and a spirit of collaboration in working interactions with Board Chair(s), Board of Directors, and Executive Director

  • Respect and do not interfere in the responsibilities delegated to the Executive Director

  • Ensure the allocation of resources are guided by accountabilities to clients, staff and volunteers, partners, and the communities served by RRHC

  • Participate in annual performance reviews and Board of Director evaluations

  • Respect and abide by the By-Laws and Policies and Procedures established by the Board of Directors

  • Live or work in Huron or Perth County
